Senior Economist, Asia at Union Bancaire Privée

Carlos Casanova is Senior Economist, Asia at UBP. Based in Hong Kong, he leads UBP’s macroeconomic research in Asia and serves as a key link between the Asian investment teams and the global economic research. He is a key contributor to the global macroeconomic framework and supports the formulation of our Asia investment strategy.
He was most recently Economist, Asia Pacific, at Coface where he was responsible for managing the company’s research on Asian economies. He has also served as Economist for the Spanish multinational banking group Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) in Hong Kong and the European Commission in Beijing.
Carlos holds an MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a BA Joint Honours from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English and Spanish.

Dr. Dong Chen is an Executive Director and the Chief Asia Strategist and Head of Asia Research at Pictet Wealth Management. He leads a team that is responsible for identifying investment opportunities and formulating investment strategies in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan. He works closely with the Pictet Wealth Management Investment Committee to help form the firm’s global asset allocation strategies.
In his spare time, Dr. Chen teaches in the EMBA programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on global macroeconomy and financial markets.
Prior to joining Pictet, Dr. Chen was a senior economist at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where he conducted research on Asian economies with a focus on China. As a member of the Asia Local Investment Committee, Dr. Chen was also involved in the management of the firm’s multi-asset class portfolios at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
Before joining the financial industry, Dr. Chen was an Assistant Professor at Peking University, where he taught Advanced Econometrics and Chinese Economy to both domestic and international students. He has also held visiting positions at Yale University and Stanford University.
Dr. Chen has a Ph.D. In economics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University (2005), an M.A. in economics from the University of Victoria (2000) and a B.A. from Chongqing University (1998).

Eva Lee is the Head of Greater China Equities at UBS Global Wealth Management Chief Investment Office in Hong Kong. She joined UBS in Sept 2011 and led a team covering HK/China property research sector. Eva built up and held up the top 3 positions in Asia Real Estate research in the Institutional Investors poll of 2016/17/18.
Eva has covered the HK/China property sector for the last 21 years at UBS, before that, at Macquarie, ING, Credit Suisse and HSBC. Eva is a member of Chartered Financial Analysts, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Hong Kong Certified Public Accountants.

John Woods is Chief Investment Officer, Asia and Head of Investment Solutions, Asia, at Lombard Odier. Based in Hong Kong, John leads Lombard Odier’s investment activities in Asia, is a voting member of the bank’s Global Investment Committee and member of the Investment Solutions Management Committee.

John brings over 25 years of experience in Asia Pacific's equity, fixed income and currency markets, with a focus on asset allocation and asset management. Prior to Lombard Odier, he was CIO Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse, and also previously held senior positions at Citi and HSBC.

John holds an M.A. in Asia Pacific Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London.

Henry holds a bachelor degree in finance and economics from the University of Toronto and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
